A day in 2020
Imagine driving around in hovercrafts, having a smartphone built in your hand and wearing Google-glasses that do everything you tell them. That would be pretty awesome, wouldn’t it? People usually associate the future with high-tech gadgets and humans who look like robots. Will this actually happen? I guess only time can tell us. But being a little imaginative never hurt anybody. That’s why I’m about to tell you about the future I have in mind.
Google recently told the world about their newest product: Google-glasses. The glasses are able to record videos and take pictures, call or text someone or simply browsing the internet. The fact that the glasses can give back some abilities to disabled people should also be mentioned. The prospect of wearing these Google-glasses intrigues me and I certainly hope it won’t be long until everybody has a pair of them. Imagine the possibilities. It would also connect you to others, since you can actually share things that can only be seen from your perception. Let’s just hope Google finds a way to create these glasses fast and keep the price a bit low, so they are accessible for everybody. Wouldn’t it be nice if we would have these things in our daily lives in 2020?
There is one thing I desire the most for 2020: The cure to cancer and other life-threatening diseases. It would save millions of lives. If these cures and medicines could be invented before 2020, it would make the world a much better place. To some it may sound too optimistic, but I think that with enough willpower, this goal is achievable.
So there are sci-fi lovers out there who would love to see robots take over our earth. To others, it sounds ridiculous and not real. Although some movies have shown us some pretty awesome-looking robots, I’m actually not looking forward to the day that robots will have replaced humans. It scares me a little bit when I think about the fact that we, humans, could make a machine so smart, we would outsmart ourselves. But I don’t think this day will ever come, and I certainly hope so.
Another futuristic thing: time travel. It sounds really great and magical, but then again, if time travel will be invented in the future, shouldn’t there be time travellers that returned to our time? I know it really makes your brains hurt when you think about that, so let’s just move on to the next subject and let time tell us the truth.
What else can we expect from the future? A new world war? A nuclear war perhaps? Hovercrafts? In my opinion, the only thing we can do to make the future a success, is show a little bit more love to our planet and to our fellow humans. I don’t want to sound like a hippie or anything, but it is the truth. With a bit of love and respect everything should be alright. And in the end, we all just have to accept whatever will happen, we never know exactly what’s going to happen. I guess we’ll talk again in 16 years?
